Press-In Hinge Pins
Most early pre-Alpha drives used pressed-in hinge pins.
Pressed-in hinge pins were locked in place with aluminum cross nails.
Although the pins have a threaded hole for attaching a puller to remove the pins
it is much easier to simply hammer the pins inward to remove them.
The cross nails are often difficult if not impossible to remove so we simply warn up
the hinge pins with a small propane torch and hammer the hinge pins inward thus shearing off the aluminum nails.
Once the hinge pins have been knocked out you can remove or drill out the old aluminum nail bits.
NOTE: Knocking the hinge pins inward will ruin your ujoint bellows so plan on replacing the bellows.

Alpha Threaded Hinge Pins
Later model drives use the Threaded Hinge Pins.
A Hinge Pin Tool is required for removal and installation of threaded hinge pins.
Gimbal Rings with side mounted Trim Sender Switches will have threaded hinge pins.
